GHM : Greek state news agency and media distort State Department position on Macedonian language and ethnicty
Greek Helsinki Monitor (GHM) denounces a new example of directed journalism in the service of "national interests" by the Greek state
Athens News Agency (ANA) that was willingly disseminated by several Greek media without checking the story despite its obviously
irrational content. A State Department spokesperson answer to a Greek journalist, on 19 October, stating that the USA recognize states
(including Macedonia with its constitutional name)

MHRMI Appeals to International Community to Intervene on Behalf of Oppressed Macedonian Minority in Buglaria
Bulgaria has stepped up its campaign of blatant racism and intimidation against its large Macedonian minority only months before its
acceptance into the European Union. Following a defamation campaign against Macedonian political party OMO Ilinden PIRIN by Bulgarian
media, (see MHRMI press releases dated Sept. 14, 2006 and Sept.19, 2006 - www.mhrmi.org/press), Bulgarian politicians have threatened
legal action against the Macedonian party and have called on all Macedonians to be "expelled" from Bulgaria or "shot dead when walking the streets".

yesterday a copy of the Macedonian Primer "Abecedar", during the annual OSCE Human Dimension Implementation Meeting in Warsaw. This
initiative of EFA- Rainbow comes as an answer to the recent allegations of Greek officials that no Macedonian Primer has yet circulated
and was received warmly by the other delegations.
